Three For Me IPL & 1540 Treatment
Improving the Signs of Photoaging in Your Skin
Transforming your skin is easy with the IPL Photofacial, also called Photorejuvenation. This non-invasive treatment is ideal for skin care concerns ranging from redness and rosacea to broken capillaries to age spots, sun spots, discoloration and hyperpigmentation.
The pleasures and stresses of life take their toll and cause our skin to look older. Sun exposure, the major culprit of skin damage, only compounds this. The actual conditions that develop are often a complex of changes in the small blood vessels (called “telangiectasias”) and the appearance of spots and blemishes of pigment. A remarkable technology called Intense Pulsed Light (IPL™) can treat these developments with a very special flash of light.
The IPL photofacial process causes collagen and blood vessels below the epidermis to constrict, reducing redness and age lines. The procedure involves minimal discomfort, feeling like the mild snapping of rubber bands against the skin's surface.
IPL is a broad-band light (not a laser) used to deliver a series of gentle pulses of light to the skin. Specific settings are selected for each treatment for optimal results. A series of three to five treatments are performed at three to four week intervals. The benefits of IPL PhotoFacial Treatments are consistent, visible improvement in the skin with no downtime, little discomfort and minimal risk. With PhotoFacial Treatments, the embarrassing redness and flushing of rosacea can be greatly reduced and sun damaged, aging skin can be dramatically improved.
Only skin types I – IV may have these treatments.
Skin types V and VI should not be treated. Skin type IV’s require a test spot, and use of a skin lightening kit for 3-4 weeks prior to their first treatment to limit the potential for their skin to over-react to the light.
When can I expect to see results?
Gradual and cumulative improvement of skin tone is typically achieved in 6 sessions. The total number of sessions required will depend on your skin's condition.
Does it hurt?
Cooling of the skin surface ensures additional safety and comfort during treatment. Redness and swelling may occur immediately after, but it will subside shortly after.
What types of results can I expect?
You can expect to see a gradual decrease in overall redness, flushing and dilated capillaries. People with visible aging from the sun can expect to see their skin become smoother with a decrease in fine wrinkles, reduction in pore size and fading of sun spots. Many people with rosacea see an improvement in breakouts and are able to decrease or discontinue their other medications.
How long does it take?
Each treatment takes approximately 30 minutes, depending on the size of treatment area.
How many treatments will I need?
You can see some improvement immediately. Only one or two treatments may be needed; depending on the severity of your conditions, several treatments may be necessary to achieve your best results.
What can I expect following treatment?
Typically, most people experience a mild sunburn-like sensation, possibly accompanied by some minor swelling, immediately following the treatment. This usually lasts two to 24 hours. Ask your provider to discuss other possible side effects and the necessary post-treatment care with you.
How quickly will I recover?
You can resume regular daily activities right away and start to see some improvement immediately.
